Magical Purposes

Intro: This trick requires a force and a slight of hand. The sleight of hand is known as the "glide" and the force can be any force you like to use.

Magical PurposesThe force I use is two simple cuts, remembering the top card. Once the top card is secretly known ask the spectator to cut the deck. Take the cut part, turn it over and place it on the top of the remaining portion. Have the spectator cut the deck again, below the other cut. Turn it over and place it on top. Fan the cards to the first card back and say "this is where you cut to, so that's your card." That card is the original top card!

Step 1: Have the spectator memorize that card and place it back into the deck. Offer a shuffle to anyone watching, it doesn't matter where the card is because you already know it!

Step 2: Fan through the cards and make 1 cut so the chosen card is 4th from the bottom. Let no one see where you cut the cards.

Step 3: Show the bottom card and ask "is this your card?" Obviously it isn't! Place this card on the table face down. Put the next card on the top of the deck and say "I'll put this card on top for magical purposes." Show the bottom card again and ask "is this your card?" Once again it isn't. Now is the first "glide". Perform the glide and place what should be the chosen card on the table. Put the next card on the top and say the "magical purposes" line. Place two other cards on top of the cards on the table using the same M.O., not necessary to perform the glide.

Step 4: Take the 4 cards on the table, square them in the glide position. Give the spectator some line about not believing them, but make sure they don't tell you their card's name. Show the bottom card, and ask them if it is their card, they'll say no and be getting frustrated. Don't put that card down, perform the glide and place the chosen card on the table, and place the next card on top. Follow the same pattern through the next 3 cards. When just two cards left turn them over and say, "either of these?" The spectator will say "no," place them both on the table.

Step 5: Reveal each card asking "was this you card?" The final card turned over will be their card! If they ask "how'd you do that?" Say, "It's magic!"
